Michael Ellis DeBakey (September 7, 1908 – July 11, 2008) was an [lebanese] heart surgeon who was considered to be a very important name in his area. He was also among the early names of heart surgery.
was a renowned Lebanese- American cardiac surgeon and innovator who helped develop the modern field of cardiovascular surgery. He is best known for his pioneering work in the development of the artificial heart valve, the first successful coronary artery bypass surgery, and the use of minimally invasive techniques in heart surgery. Dr. DeBakey received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the National Medal of Science, and induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 99.
