Neckless circumference: approx. 45cm, silver weight: 125gram.
A masterpiece of its kind, this handcrafted necklace was made by Armenian silversmith in the Van region of Western Armenia. This is a unique piece, that is inspired by Urartian art and traditional symbols that were worn by ancient kings and queens of the region. The necklace as shown in the pictures bears the inscriptions “AA” and “BB”, representing the link between the artist and the artwork.
At present times, such necklaces usually were reserved for wear at weddings and other important life festivities. Brides were often presented with such necklaces which they subsequently regarded as among their most important jewelry.
This 19th century handcrafted necklace, with 3 silver strand neat “fish scale” chain trappings that incorporates no less than 125 grams of silver. The necklace is stable and wearable. It closes with a silver hook and eye closing mechanism which is easy to take on and off.
