Drawing on the original designs of its spiritual ancestor, Behringer ‘s Kobol Expander expertly recreates the enchantment of its all-analog waveform-morphing architecture, resulting in a highly versatile semi-modular synth with a 1970s-style character. Its seven waveforms are continually morphable, using a pair of VCOs to elicit a range of duophonic sound-shaping options, from sawtooth to PWM, each of which may be tweaked or manipulated independently.
The onboard VCF features a 4-pole architecture that has been praised for its naturally saturating quality, making it ideal for sculpting both onboard synth sounds and external audio. An analog LFO spans two waveform options with a wealth of destination choices, allowing for delicate tone building that is immediately amplified by the oscillator sync or the noise generator, resulting in mammoth-sized synth sonics
